The scrapping of the much maligned Sustainability Declarations was part of the LNP’s pledge to cut real estate red tape in the lead up to the recent state election. This appears to be a promise they are keeping as the stamp duty concessions we have previously mentioned will kick in on 1 July 2012 and now the Bill to scrap the Sustainability Declaration is only awaiting final assent.
Although it seems certain to happen it is important that Sellers of residential property in Queensland continue to provide the Declaration until final assent occurs, if they do not they risk fines of up to $2,000.00.
